BodyForming is the electro-muscular stimulation exercise training regime where it is is said that 20 minutes training can equate to 5hrs normal training. Really?
Some weeks ago myself and colleague visited the BodyForming studio in Santa Eulalia to see what BodyForming was all about (you can read about that here) However it takes more than one session to convince me of its merits and so I agreed to undertake 10 sessions
personally and watch the results... 20 minutes, twice a week, 5 weeks...
My first three sessions at BodyForming were introductory sessions. In essence I was shown and indeed got stuck in to doing a variety of different training styles - boxing, cross-training,
simple 'tension posing' with alternating degrees of electro- stimulation.
BodyForming is without doubt a unique experience and one I was a little unnerved by. Pulling on a suit, having electrodes attached, being sprayed with water and then watching the
machine that pulses electricity straight onto your skin, into your muscles is ... quite something! However, all the trainers seemed quite confident I wasn't going to fry.. Thankfully their
confidence was well placed.
With the ability to combine BodyForming with a cross-training machine, your cardiovascular needs are also addressed (great for assisting weight loss). Regardless of your goals or
the style of training you select, you have a personal trainer with you, throughout the session.
Now, after my 9th session, (20 minutes each, standing on a mat, tensing muscles as I was guided through various poses and my body quivered with electrical pulses) I too am both confident
and impressed. Whilst I have no real way of confirming one session can equal 5hrs traditional training, I can confirm that the results were rapid. Within the first four
sessions I was aware of an increased degree of strength and muscle tone. BodyForming can be used to adjust your muscular shape and mass (increase or decrease), as well as strength and stamina. In
fact I am so impressed with the efficiency (time saving aspect - note, there's full shower / changing facilities if you're dashing to / from work) and results (greater
strength, enhanced sense of physical well-being as well as the mental smugness of actually doing something!) that I'm booking my next ten sessions.
I think it should be noted that I have some physical fragilities from previous accidents and because the intensity of the electro-stimulation can be adjusted for each muscular area, I was
able to train without aggravating the injuries. This was a huge bonus as many sports and training types do not allow for this.
BodyForming is also low impact (no impact, if needed) so there's no strain on ones joints.
Like:
Training hard for 20 minutes, just twice a week and seeing noticeable results within a month.
Only needing to train once a week to maintain desired results once achieved
Able to target body areas for specific / localised results
Don't like
(the requirement to exercise! ahem)
It costs more than I'd usually ever consider paying to "get / keep fit" but I need to play fair with this observation as I am the fiscally foolish sod that takes out a years gym membership, goes
five times & obviously sees nil benefit (anyone else done this?) - long term paying out a lot more than BodyForming costs.
If you're intrigued, book yourself the special three session introductory offer and try it out! See you there!
Ps. Remember to take a change of underwear, incl socks. Whilst you strip to put on the especially designed suit, underwear is required. When you're sprayed with water, everything
gets soaked - often incl. socks. It's neither a good look or a comfortable one to leave the gym in such a soggy state...
