standing on it with two feet is relatively easy

The Sunset Point Sports Resort apartments in San Antonio Bay on Ibiza's west coast already have a large inventory of outdoor sporting activities that can be enjoyed in the island's perfect climate. Now they've added another – Stand Up Paddle Surf – the fastest growing water sport on the planet.

Ibiza's calm seas are the perfect place to learn and practice SUP. Almost like walking on water, not only is it fun, but it's a fantastic cross-trainer, being both aerobic and strength training exercise at the same time. You can make it anything from a comfortable cruise to a heart pounding, calorie burning workout which leaves you exhausted but happy.

The name is fairly self explanatory; you use a surfboard to stand on as you paddle along, though you can also sit or kneel. As it's a long-board with greater stability than a surfboard it doesn't require great speed to maintain balance, so standing on it with two feet is relatively easy.

For this reason, the sport can easily be mastered during a ten hour course over five days at the Sunset Point Sports resort, which is the official SUP centre for Ibiza and Formentera. All the instructors there are not only experienced surfers, but also holders of the Spanish Surf Federation (FES) official license.

Once you have gone through the first stage and have learned to control the balance and paddling techniques, the instructor will take you to suitable beaches and teach you how to surf waves as well. You will also be able to do some longer crossings "SUPfaris" with our expert local guide to discover the secret spots of Ibiza's rugged coastline.

Out of the water there's hiking, mountain biking, scooter, enduro, quad, horse riding, climbing, jeep safari, golf and tennis.

Does this, or indeed any of the other water sports, require you to be staying at the hotel to do? Or can you pay and get lessons while staying somewhere?
Anyone can book their activities whether staying there or not.
