There's obviously something very attractive about the July heat of Ibiza as a glance at this week's newspapers reveal a phalanx of famous visitors to our little island. Rafa Nadal is here, fresh from Wimbledon via a quick pit stop in Mallorca, and there are more footballers than you can shake a red card at; Carles Puyol, Xavi Hernandez, Guti, Gianlucca Zambrotti, Fernando Llorente and quite a few of the Spanish U21 team.
Away from the glamour there are local festivals this month when we celebrate San Cristobal in Ibiza town and Es Cana, and the Virgen del Carmen, the patron saint of seafarers. The biggest fiesta of Carmen takes place in Portinatx, but many places on the coast like San Antonio and Ibiza also mark the occasion on and around the 16th of the month.
