embarrassing nudity of sunbathers
The great and the good of the island have just enjoyed a few days break in London at the important World Travel Market trade fair. They've been promoting Ibiza and Formentera as holiday destinations by dishing out colourful brochures, eating canapés and posing for photos with anyone who stayed in one place too long.
There was however, some controversy at the market, on Formentera's publicity photos to be precise. Someone, and we're not sure who or why, had covered up the embarrassing nudity of sunbathers pictured on the white sands of the islands beaches. Not only were they covered with black bathing costumes, but they were covered rather badly, 'with kids' crayons' according to some politicians from the tiny island.
As old Oscar Wilde once said, 'Life imitates Art far more than Art imitates Life' and it's true. The technique of crayoning in swimming cozzies over naked naughty bits was pioneered by Daniele da
Volterra who'd been employed to cover up the outstanding bits of Michelangelo's Last Judgement in the Sistine Chapel. Just take another look at our story's thumbnail on the main news page!
