Abel Matutes

All the numbers from the stories making the local news today in Ibiza.

Architects say that work was down 15% in the first quarter of the year compared to the same period in the previous year. It slumped 70% because of the recession in the construction industry from 2007 to 2009.

The waiting list for operations at Ibiza's Can Misses hospital is an average of 65.83 days, the longest in the Balearics. The shortest list is for a cataract operation – 55.59 days and the longest wait is for a circumcision – 77.36 days.

Balearia, one of the two big ferry companies serving the island, has introduced a new boat, the Abel Matutes, on the Palma – Ibiza – Valencia route. It's 190 m long, 26 m wide, cruises at 23 knots, carries 900 passengers and has 2235 linear metres of vehicle space.
