1,666,965 'passengers' used the airport
Passenger figures at Ibiza airport are on the up and up! Statistics released by the Spanish Airports Authority AENA show that 1,666,965 'passengers' used the airport for arrival and departure in the first six months of the year.
Obviously, this means about half that number are individual visitors, though 800,000 is a good start when only one month, June, could be considered high season.
June numbers are up 6% on last year with 689, 000 arrivals and departures, and only 6000 less than the best June ever, in 1997. Around 33% of these passengers were Spanish and the rest foreign visitors.
Tourist authorities in Ibiza are confident that the stats bode well for the coming months in what has been a difficult time for everyone involved in the travel business.
