The gold paved streets of London throbbed to a different rhythm last weekend when a big Spanish fiesta came to town. Spanish tourist authorities took over the British capital's famous Regent Street to bring the Iberian spectacular 'A Taste of Spain' to recession hit Brits.

Naturally, Ibiza was represented, not only by the odd politician and functionary, but its travelling musical ambassador Paco Fernandez who played his trademark Flamenco/chill guitar for the crowds of Londoners – reports say 300,000 – who turned out to enjoy the fiesta.

In recent years Spain has overtaken France as the number one destination for British holidaymakers so events like this as seen as really important in marketing terms. Last year Ibiza was chosen by over 600,000 Brits for their holidays – about 36% of the island's total tourists – so the authorities want to keep Ibiza fresh in people's minds.
