'two legs good, four wheels bad'

Yet another area of Ibiza town has been conquered in the battle of man against machine. The main square, the Vara de Rey, has been declared a pedestrian zone on Sundays and public holidays.

Strollin' in the Vara de Rey

Yesterday, the first day of the 'two legs good, four wheels bad' regime was enjoyed by one and all. And it wasn't only the ordinary citizens of Ibiza who gave being able to stroll about unhindered by traffic the thumbs up.

Bar, restaurant and shop owners on the square welcomed the move by Ibiza Council, saying that the environment is much more conducive – noise and fume free – to sitting about at their terraces with a coffee and a newspaper. That's what Sundays are for after all!
