winter-long rock festival
It didn't go unnoticed that the very famous Ibiza Rocks event this summer – just like our Ibiza dance scene – didn't feature many 'people from Ibiza.' Well the situation has now been
remedied thanks to Santa Eulalia council.
A winter-long rock festival kicks off in November and lasts
until May when local groups will both play and compete to be the best band on the island. The council have offered a contract to play in all the local fiestas to the band which wins.
At the moment 22 groups have signed up for the festival which, as yet, doesn't have a name but our favourite from the suggestions so far is 'Rock'n'Riu.'The groups all have to meet only two criteria
– they're resident here and are between the ages of 14 and 35 – so, unlike the X Factor, no family tragedies are required.
The groups are Indulgentes, Malasanya, Occultum Lapidem, Complot, 4 de Copes, Tired of Life, I Sex My Cowen, Dark Elf, EKN, Rock Garage, Truth (photo above courtesy of Jose Luis), Del Valle, D-Brois,
La Señal, Nashira, Vectans, Jako Nuzelar and KL 1000, Morbo, Kin blau, Grind, Sa Talaia, Mala Hierba and En Desacuordes and between them play metal, pop, rock, black-metal, heavy-metal, blues and
hip-hop.
With all the groups being local we can safely predict that there won't be any villa trashing going on during the cool season!
