the works to improve Talamanca beach
Ibiza's winter tourist industry, like the chicken and egg, is a funny old thing. Hoteliers claim there aren't enough flights to bother opening and the airlines say there aren't enough hotel places
to justify direct flights.
This year the Talamanca area is pushing a promotion called 'Talamanca – Open All Year' to try and kickstart winter tourism to the island. It's a good place to start because it's a 'resort'
close to Ibiza town which has plenty going on throughout the year, Marina Botafoch, with many bars, restaurants and cafes open throughout the year, and Talamanca itself is a rather upmarket
residential area with some good places to eat and drink.
What's happened is that a group of hotels in the area have agreed to remain open all year and by doing so hope to capture both the business market and the growing weekend break market. The hotels are
the Lux Isla, Ocean Drive, Simbad, Argos, Talamanca and the Ibiza Gran Hotel.

The Simbad - Newly Renovated
Coincidentally – they can't possibly have planned it – the works to improve Talamanca beach as part of Ibiza town's Plan of Excellence are due to start on 1st October. Costing €150k,
it involves installing public showers and improvements to the lighting and access to the beach.
With regular flights from Air Berlin attracting many Germans to our winter shores the plan could just work as once here the joys of the Ibiza 'cool' season are certainly very attractive. Why not try
it?
