Ibiza's Sound of Silence
The stroke of midnight heralds the sound of silence all over Ibiza. All musical shenanigans must cease or move inside behind soundproofed doors. Let’s face it, even on party island, some of us have to get up for work and need a good night’s sleep.
Well, some comedy genius in Playa den Bossa has come up with a brilliant scheme where young people can still bop the night away outdoors without disturbing a soul. It’s called a silent disco and what happens is that everybody has earphones connected to the DJ and can throw shapes to their heart’s content without breaking any public ordinances. However there might be a chance of breaking the odd leg should all the wires get tangled up in the melee!
However should anyone wish to play music at too high a volume, they might want to consider the fate of the landlord of the Via Punica Viper bar who failed to respect a police seal on his Hi-Fi. He was fined €1000 despite his excuse that ‘in Ibiza, nothing ever matters.’
So remember, keep the noise down after midnight.
