unbearably scorchio
The Balearic weathermen have just initiated a system of weather warnings which will bring Ibiza into line with the European Union. From now on weather warnings will be issued in three categories: Yellow Alert, which may be used when that fine rain that soaks you through is forecast, Amber Alert, for a thunder storm which could cause power loss to the entire island, and finally Red Alert for unusual occasions when it gets unbearably scorchio.
Astonishingly, only days after the introduction of the new system, the island health authorities are predicting the arrival of a boiling hot red alert heatwave over the next two weeks. They say that next week, and probably the week after will be the hottest so far this year. Considering that this is July and leading up to August, it isn't really much of a prediction, but we’re happy to pass it on.
So remember, please be careful in the sun and drink plenty of water, especially if you’re very young or very old.
