Ibiza...........a meeting place for creative minds
One of THE big events on next year's Ibiza calendar is sure to be the Ibiza and Formentera International Film Festival which runs from 29th May to the 7th of June 2007. Already, a host of big names within the film industry have pledged their support and participation to the festival and a growing number of sponsors is being gathered.
Last night a party was held at the Pacha Hotel - the Pacha Group is the latest sponsor to come on board - where such luminaries as actor John Hurt (The Elephant Man), Producer Jonathan Debin (Silk), Composer Michael Hoenig (Koyaanisqatsi) and Camera Operator Ronnie Taylor (Ghandi) who will all be on the jury each gave the champagne and canapés a resounding 10!
We think that Ibiza is the ideal place for such a festival and John Hurt agrees with us, saying, 'It surprises me that there has never been a film festival in Ibiza before as it has always been a meeting place for creative minds, not least those involved in film.'
The festival itself - it will take place all over the islands - is sure to be a star studded affair and those who have so far expressed a keen interest to attend include Andy Garcia, Morgan Freeman, Martin Sheen and his son Emilio Estevez. Needless to say we'll be keeping you well informed about the progress of the festival, so keep watching this space.
