Ahoy there mihearties! Those nautical coves at ferry company Balearia have been busy hoisting the keel and hauling the mainbrace lately. They’ve announced a new daily ferry link from Denia direct to Formentera which will take only two hours. The 500 seater Nixe 2 will leave Denia every morning at 8.30 and return from Formentera at 7pm.

Balearia also have a brand new boat, Sonia, ultra modern and with special facilities for the disabled which has just started a six-day-a-week service from San Antonio to Barcelona. Taking just 8 hours the journey is made more pleasant for the 750 passengers with facilities like bars and restaurants on board.

Finally, the company have commissioned a new ferry to be built specially for use on the Denia to Ibiza route. The ‘difficulties’ of manoeuvring the big ferries into the port of Denia have led to several accidents, one of which blocked the entrance for weeks, which has resulted in Balearia taking this measure.
