a budget estimated at €17 million

The various plans to restore Ibiza's historic buildings and monuments continue to gather force as they reach their culmination.

The boss of Spain's Paradors has confirmed that the conversion of the castle which dominates the entrance to the port into a luxury hotel will commence early next year. With a budget estimated at €17 million, the new Parador will have 61 rooms and access via a lift from a new parking area.

Crane enthusiasts will be sorry to hear that the big yellow monstrosity which has been a constant blot on the Ibiza skyline round D'alt Vila way for the last couple of years will soon be no longer. Can Botin, the fabulous mansion house which it has helped to renovate, is almost complete and its new cafeteria will soon be open to the public. If anyone fancies running it, the license for the next 10 years is up for grabs at €9,280 per year.
