Eclipse Eclipsed

The much trumpeted annular eclipse of the sun by the moon on Monday was not quite as spectacular as promised. Our normally cloudless Ibiza skies were almost covered in thick black cloud that seemed to cover the sun just at the vital moment that the moon crossed between it and the Earth.

It was just about possible, with the aid of special glasses, to see the black disc of the moon obscuring the centre of the sun leaving a bright ring of flame around the outside.

If anyone was disappointed with the show, don’t worry, because Spotlight has arranged a repeat performance, and this time we can guarantee clear skies as this total eclipse takes place on 26th of August 2026!
