2,000 people ......accompanied by no less than 40 decorated floats.

Ibiza's 'Minister for Fun' Sandra Mayans who organises all the island's big public events, has confirmed that this year's Mardi Gras parade will be the biggest ever. Already over 2,000 people have put their names down to take part in the cavalcade accompanied by no less than 40 decorated floats.

Some concern was expressed at the decision to move this year's parade to Sunday with an 11.30 AM start as opposed to the normal Saturday night kick-off. However the huge increase in numbers involved, up from 1500 people and 19 floats last year, has vindicated the choice of the Sabbath.

The parade gives the islanders chance to have tons of fun whilst also expressing political and satirical opinions through the themes of their floats. On Sunday some of the floats that will pass through Ibiza's streets in front of the fancy dress clad masses will be Harry Potter, the Beatles' Yellow Submarine, and the Art Termites (???).

A good time is sure to be had by all, as the other towns and villages all have fancy dress celebrations and parades during the 5 days of festivities.
