There is exciting news this week for all tarmac afficionados with the announcement that two major roadwork projects have recommenced.

In Ibiza 'new' town, most of the streets are being recovered with the black sticky stuff, a slow process with 3 days allotted to clear each street of wall to wall parked cars, and then a couple of hours to lay the tarmac. Costing over €1 million, the work is scheduled to last for 3 months and, dare we say it, should be finished before the tourists begin to arrive.

Meanwhile, over in San Antonio, work has restarted on the northern ring road, after the contractors had a well-earned Christmas break. This road, which seems to have been in construction for a lifetime, is at last having tarmac laid on it! Furthermore, the authorities want to increase the budget for the road so that an access can be constructed to the large secondary school nearby, a fact which was overlooked when the work was planned.
