Where to stay in and around Ibiza Town: high end to budget

Head to the cosmopolitan island capital.

THE ESSENTIALS

Ibiza Town, the island's capital is a compact and cosmopolitan city that's terrific as a base for your holiday. In the atmospheric port area and old town, you can wander down narrow streets and soak up an atmosphere that's quintessentially Mediterranean.

The district is home to restaurants that suit all budgets. You can also browse market stalls and boutiques for handmade jewellery and original clothing designed here on the island. Check out trendy Marina Botafoch and savour breakfast next to the glamorous yachts moored there. It's all really quite delightful.

Whilst there are no beaches in the town itself, both Talamanca and Figueretas beaches are just a few minutes' walk or a taxi ride away. Just above the port, the neighbourhood known as Sa Penya is home to Calle de la Virgen, a colourful, narrow lane with lots of bars and boutiques that has long been home to Ibiza's famed LGBTQIA community.

High-end

Stunning! Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay

Unsurprisingly, a good number of high-end hotels are concentrated within Ibiza's capital and close by in its outskirts. Here is our selection.

For those that want to be next to a beach and to live in lap of modern luxury, the Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay satisfies on many levels. Beautiful rooms and suites, two divine pools, three top-quality restaurants, and a recently renovated Rooftop Terrace, all in a colour scheme of gold, turquoise and natural colours that are emblematic of the island. Guests rave about the service, the style, the Japanese food at the Nobu restaurant and the palpable air of effortless luxury. Effusive five-star guest ratings for a five-star hotel just beg you to try it out.

Close by in Marina Botafoch stands the elegant El Hotel Pacha, roughly opposite the club from which it takes its name. Completely redeveloped in 2022, the new design concept is uniquely futuristic yet it remains quintessentially Pacha. The hotel bar is always a great place to be seen and you'll love the reimagined exterior, illuminated in Pacha's distinctive cherry red colour at night.

At the Gran Hotel Montesol, you are right in the heart of town

Slap bang in the centre of town, on the Vara de Rey promenade, stands the island's oldest hotel, the five-star Gran Hotel Montesol. Its retro-chic style pervades the entire establishment, from the outside terrace to the rooms and suites and the chic rooftop bar that offers terrific views of the old town and port area. It's also open year round.

A short distance along the plaza, the brand-new The Standard Hotel has recently opened its doors, offering a sleek, urban design ethic in harmony with the surrounding classical architecture. Also opening out onto the pedestrianised heart of Ibiza, the rooms are classy and ultra-modern - ideal for the perfect city break.

Chic and modern, The Standard Hotel

For a stay that's in the heart of nature and for a taste of a more authentic Ibiza, Country Hotel Xereca, just five minutes from the city centre is ideal. Luxury rooms and suites with a modern rustic design, a yoga centre and orange groves make up a perfect escape. If the night is calling, know you are only a reasonable distance from Ibiza Town and the super-clubs.

Mid-range

From sunrise to sunset views at Ocean Drive Talamanca

When it comes to mid-range accommodation, there are some excellent options that really do offer a lot for the money. See our picks below.

Ideally situated on the seafront of the prestigious Marina Botafoch, Ocean Drive Ibiza combines an unbeatable location, amazing views, easy access to some of the island’s top nightlife and top-notch facilities. A favourite with music lovers and DJs, it has a stunning rooftop bar and restaurant, OD Sky Bar, with a varied live entertainment agenda. Open year-round, it also hosts a plethora of exciting cultural events.

A little further away, in Talamanca Bay, Ocean Drive Talamanca, is another excellent option. It offers all the advantages of its sister establishment, in addition to breath-taking sunrises thanks to its eastward-facing location. With four pools, its own club - Piropo Club - the highly rated à la carte restaurant UP&DOWN, and the OD Sky Bar, this is perfect for those who want proximity to the city while enjoying a more natural setting.

At Mikasa Boutique Hotel, the devil is in the detail. Its rooms and suites use natural materials and each one is designed taking influence from one of the 12 moons or four seasons. An interesting concept. It's great on offering you lots of cool little touches from fancy toiletries to beach towels and eating on the dining terrace looking across the water to Ibiza Town's old town is simply divine.

For a little more autonomy, the One Ibiza Suites in Figueretas are a great choice and they overlook the beach. All are vibrantly decorated, with big sofas, very comfortable beds and excellent kitchen facilities. An adults-only roof terrace is a sublime spot to enjoy a cocktail with views that will take your breath away.

Views of Playa d'en Bossa beach from Cenit Hotel and Apartments

For some splendid views, high on the hill, the Cenit Hotel and Apartments make a superb option, with nicely furnished rooms, a fitness area and a wellness treatments centre for some holiday bliss. One of its most famous features is the pool terrace and bar, where people mix, socialise and marvel at the fantastic sea views.

The El Puerto Ibiza Hotel Spa punches above its weight when it comes to quality: a four star that's in the centre of town, close to the port, with well appointed modern rooms. A delicious rooftop bar with a pool is its crowning glory as is the fact that it houses Teatro Ibiza offering live music every day. Open in winter too.

Budget

You can easily find good quality places to stay in this area, whether you are with the kids or simply want to party.

Young travellers will love sliding out of bed at Ryans La Marina and landing directly into the heart of the thriving Ibiza Port.
