Ibiza’s Low Season
Just ask anyone who lives in Ibiza when the best time to visit the island is and the resounding reply will be the low season.
Fresh and green, Ibiza has a whole new look after the heat of summer. Life outdoors is an absolute pleasure and with less people about there’s so much more space for living. And sunny days with cooling breezes are ideal for sports and other healthy activities.
Whether hiking, biking or on horseback, the coast and countryside are a patchwork of hues, punctuated round almost every corner by glimpses of the clear blue Mediterranean and everywhere the fresh scent of pine. Golfers will find Ibiza’s 9 and 18 hole courses at Roca Llisa lush and verdant and lovers of watersports can practise diving, water skiing, and even kite and windsurfing on certain days too.
The nearby Marina Botafoch sports harbour is the perfect place for the seafaring set. Having spent the day feeling the salt tang on a sailing yacht or luxury launch there’s a fine selection of bars, restaurants and upmarket shops to relax, wind down and prepare for the next day.
Sight-seeing by car is just so easy. Driving and parking is a breeze in the small towns and white washed villages of the island, and the little bars and restaurants you’ll find in the countryside are open all year for a relaxing pit stop on the way.
Ibiza’s history, heritage and culture are more easily accessible away from the heat of summer. Dalt Vila and its high cathedral, castle and museums provide an interesting day strolling around the ancient narrow cobbled streets or get in touch with old Ibiza by visiting the many churches dating back hundreds of years.
Ibiza nightlife outside the summer season is very different. There’s a warm, friendly atmosphere in the many bars and restaurants which open all year. Naturally, weekends are the busiest time for going out on the town, and Ibiza’s famous dance music scene can still be found in Pacha and other smaller venues until the sun rises the next day.
