The beach

The longest stretch of sand on the island, Playa d'en Bossa can make you feel like you're witnessing the many faces of Ibiza. The length of the beach is lined with bars and beach lounges, offering a variety of scenes ranging from the laid-back, family-friendly, and the super trendy, to the party-goers' dance spots.

The clear waters cover a sandy sea bed making it ideal for ball games and splashing about. When the wind picks up from the south, there can be some waves to have fun in.

The middle section of the beach stretching from the famed Jet Apartments to the Ushuaia Tower is the busiest, with pool parties in the afternoon and an endless stream of beautiful bodies walking along the shores. To see and be seen is the motto, meet new friends and get into the right vibe for the party later.

There is a wide choice of bars and restaurants catering for all tastes, right on the beach or, alternatively, along the main strip of the resort, without the views but less expensive.

The south end of the beach is the most beautiful - here the sand is much wider, and even in mid-August, there is lots of space to lay your towel down away from neighbouring sun worshippers. The further south you get, the quieter it is.

This part of the beach belongs to exclusive beach clubs, so there are no budget beach bars. Spoil yourself to a wonderful day on a lounge bed with friendly waiters serving cocktails and exclusive food all day long.

At the north end of the beach, there is a short promenade lining the small stretch of sand, with some moderately priced beach bars. Apart from the lifeguards, there are no facilities like sun beds or parasols here.

It leads to a small harbour; from the jetty, water taxis go to the neighbouring resort of Figueretas and to Ibiza Town. Furthermore, you can also catch ferries to Formentera, or join wonderful boat trips and fun boat parties from here.

Spotlight tip

At two kilometres long, the beach is perfect for long walks. At the south end, you can climb up to the watch tower Torre des Carregador.

During the summer season, the tower can be visited in the mornings and afternoons. There's interesting information about the remaining pirate towers on Ibiza, and you can enjoy fantastic views of the whole resort and the citadel of Dalt Vila in the distance.

Beach bars and restaurants

A wealth of bars, beach clubs and restaurants are dotted along the length of the beach. In the middle of the resort, there's a cluster of beach bars with a vibrant party atmosphere as well as some lovely and affordable beach restaurants.

At the beach's southern end, where the sands get wider, there is a small array of sumptuous beach clubs. Whilst they can be pricey, the experience is well worth it as a great holiday treat.
