Cala Jondal Beach, Ibiza
Location: 15 minutes drive from Ibiza Town
Facilities: Loungers, parasols, showers, restaurants, bars, massage, lifeguards, access for disabled
Activities: Pedaloes
Size: 225 metres long, 15 metres wide
The Cala Jondal is a very beautiful and trendy beach, surrounded by pines and jagges cliffs, very popular with boat owners.
This conservation
area of natural beauty has to be one of the last outposts of paradise. Overlooked only by a few exquisitely architected homes high up on the surrounding green hills, the white pebbly beach is
dotted here and there with the shade of pine trees before sloping to the glittering, crystal clear waters. Entering the water can be a faff, as pebbles are uncomfortable to walk on but it's worth
the effort to swim in pure turquoise! Or head towards the 'make do' sandy paths cleared in the sea bed by the restauranteurs - saves your toes!
Cala Jondal is now possibly the trendiest beach on Ibiza and there's a fabulous selection of beach restaurants that are popular with the rich and famous as well as locals and holidaymakers.
Many offer zodiac service (taking a dinghy out to the fabulous boats and yachts anchored off shore to collect the owners to eat in their restaurants). This can be great fun to watch as many dress completely inappropriately for stepping out of the dinghy into the sea!
The Restaurant Tropicana (see below) will also bring you your drinks direct to your boat - now that's what we call stylish!
Facilities: Good choice of restaurants, many requiring you to book at weekends to avoid disappointment. By the side of the Tropicana restaurant is a massage area, a shop selling beachwear and a great 'kiosko' or beach bar that often has live music on a sunday.
Getting there: Reached only by car (and private yacht!), follow signposts from Ibiza Town and the airport. Parking is fairly good but much of it is attached to the restaurants so head for those.
Nearest resort: Playa d'en Bossa
